Silent Auction FAQ

Why isn’t my bid showing up?

This could happen for one of several reasons: 1) The bids only update every 5 minutes, please wait and refresh your browser; 2) Make sure you selected the right item number when placing your bid, if you accidently bid on the wrong item please email auction@homecourtdc.org with enough information to correct your bid; 3) Something else is wrong so please email auction@homecourtdc.org.
What happens if I cannot attend the game?

The auction will continue live at the Home Court basketball game on Wednesday, March 30th and will conclude at halftime. The highest bid, online or live, will win the item. Auction winners who are not in attendance at this year’s Home Court game will be contacted shortly after the event to arrange payment and item delivery.

I am not in the metro DC area. How can I get my item?

If you are not in the metro DC area, Home Court will pay to ship your item by standard shipping. Winners may request expedited shipping or insurance at their own expense. Where appropriate, winners may request for Home Court to email them digital versions of certain items and certificates.

How can I pay for my item?

Winners may pay by cash or check. We cannot accept credit cards at this time. Checks should be made payable to Georgetown University Law Center with “Home Court” indicated on the memo line. If you need to mail us your payment, please send it to:

Home Court
Georgetown University Law Center
600 New Jersey Ave., NW
Washington, DC 20001

What is “Secure it Now”?:

“Secure it Now” enables the bidder to secure the item immediately. To acquire an item that is eligible for “Secure it Now,” the bidder should bid the “Secure it Now” value via the auction form and email auction@homecourtdc.org. The item will then be taken out of the auction. Home Court will not honor any bids that are placed after a “Secure it Now” bid. The “Secure it Now” feature is ideal for those who cannot attend the Home Court game to defend their bids in the live portion of the auction.

How do I know my bid was placed?

If your bid was registered, you will receive a “Thanks” message. Please be patient if the system does not immediately reflect your new bid; the top bidder value updates every 5 minutes. You can check back after that time to confirm your bid.

Who should I contact with any questions?

If you have any concerns or questions, please email auction@homecourtdc.org.
